Requirements
Must-haves
- 6+ years of full-stack development experience
- Hands-on experience with Kafka in production environments
- Deep understanding of secure coding practices
- Experience with Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript
- Experience with React and Tailwind CSS
- Experience with MySQL or PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization at scale
- Experience building and integrating REST APIs
- Experience translating Figma designs into production-ready components
- Proficiency with AI coding tools (e.g. Cursor, etc.) and effective prompting
- Strong communication skills in both spoken and written English
What makes you stand out
- Proven Kafka in production: had built or maintained Kafka-based, event-driven systems
- Secure development in a fraud-sensitive environment: deep understanding of secure coding and has worked somewhere security mattered: fintech, payments, or PCI DSS exposure
- Database engineering at scale: strong in schema design, query writing, and performance tuning on high-volume data
Nice-to-haves
- Startup experience
- Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures
- Experience with fraud detection, anomaly detection, or financial data modeling
- Familiarity with PCI DSS standards
- Broader knowledge of message queue systems beyond Kafka
- Background in fintech, payments, or e-commerce
- Experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
- Experience with Bootstrap
- Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree (Ph.D. or Master’s) in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
What you will work on
- Build and maintain event-driven backend services using Kafka, Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript
- Design database schemas and write efficient, scalable queries in MySQL or PostgreSQL
- Write secure code for a fraud-sensitive platform, following PCI DSS best practices
- Develop and maintain REST APIs, ensuring seamless integration with frontend applications
- Contribute to the evolution of a microservices-based architecture
- Build frontend components and views using React and Tailwind CSS based on Figma designs
- Use AI coding tools (e.g. Cursor, etc.) to speed up development
- Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver user-facing features
